Place Your Ring Finger on the 3rd fret of A String (5th String)
Place Your Middle Finger on the 2nd fret of D String (4th String)
Place Your Index Finger on the 1st fret of B String (2nd String)
Do not play the Low E String (6th String)
Start strumming from the 5th string (A) down to the high E
Pluck each string slowly to ensure no buzzing or muted notes. Adjust the finger pressure and placement as needed.
G Major Chord
Put Your Middle Finger on 3rd fret of low E String (6th String)
Put Your Index Finger on the 2nd fret of A String (5th String)
Put Your Ring Finger on the 3rd fret of B String (2nd String)
Put Your Pinky Finger the 3rd fret of High E String (1st String)
Strum all six strings from the low E to the High E for a full, rich G Major sound.
Am Chord
Place your index finger (1st finger) on the 1st fret of the 2nd string (B string).
Place your middle finger (2nd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 4th string (D string).
Place your ring finger (3rd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 3rd string (G string).
Make sure the 5th string (A string) is open (not pressed down). Now strum this.
Strum from the 5th string (A) down to the 1st string (high E). Do not play the 6th string (low E).
Em Chord
Place your middle finger (2nd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 5th string (A string).
Place your ring finger (3rd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 4th string (D string).
Keep all other strings open — don’t press them with any finger.
Make sure your fingers are curved, pressing down with your fingertips, and not muting adjacent strings.
Strum all 6 strings from the top (low E) to bottom (high E).
D Major Chord
Place your index finger (1st finger) on the 2nd fret of the 3rd string (G string).
Place your middle finger (2nd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 1st string (high E string).
Place your ring finger (3rd finger) on the 3rd fret of the 2nd string (B string).
Keep the 4th string (D string) open — this is the root of the D chord.
Strum from the 4th string (D) down to the 1st string (high E). Do not strum the 5th and 6th strings.
E Major Chord
Place your index finger (1st finger) on the 2nd fret of the 4th string (D string).
Place your middle finger (2nd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 3rd string (G string).
Place your ring finger (3rd finger) on the 2nd fret of the 2nd string (B string) — right beside the other two.
Keep the 5th string (A string) open — it’s the root of the chord.
